The Minister of Interior, on the 17th April 2019 decorated Dr. Liman A. Ibrahim as the new Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), following his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Dr. Ibrahim, until his appointment as the Controller General in March 2019, was the Assistant Controller General in charge of Policy, Regulatory and Inspectorate.
During the decoration ceremony at the Federal Ministry of Interior, the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen Abdulrahman Dambazu (rtd) PhD, Charged the new CG to ensure he brings his experience while in the Niger State Fire Service, FCT Fire Service as well as the Federal Fire Service to his new responsibility of heading the Federal Fire Service.
The Minister said the Federal Government is committed to providing adequate leadership to the nation hence the appointment of Dr Liman which is based on competence.
He said: “ Federal Fire Service has never enjoyed the kind of support they are having now in terms of procurement of Fire Engines and other emergency responding equipments, promising that more will still come as more Fire trucks are been expected”
The Minister told the new CG, that the challenge before him is to ensure the maintenance of the procured equipments.
“The Fire Service must do more in public enlightenment which will help in reducing fire incidences, because if the people are well educated on safety measures they will avoid tendencies that will lead to fire disasters”. The Minister said.
Speaking during the Occasion the CG thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for finding him worthy to be appointment as the CG Federal Fire Service, promising never to disappoint the President and Nigerians but to contribute his quota in moving the Service to the Next Level in the same way Mr President is taking Nigeria to the Next Level.
