FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE TAKES SENSITIZATION PROGRAM TO EMAB PLAZA AND GSM VILLAGE IN THE FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY, ABUJA

To mark the Controller General’s days in office the service organized a sensitization program to Emab plaza and GSM Village in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja today.

In his opening remark, the National Public Relations Officer of the Service, conveyed to the managements and business owners the Controller General, dream of a fire safe and equipped public space for uttermost safety of lives and property.
He further explained that if members of the public are aware of what to do during the event of fire before the arrival of the Firefighters, they would either tackle the fire or know how to escape from being hurt. If they are able to fight the fire successfully.
The CG therefore urged the business owners to embrace safety as everyone’s responsibility, urging them to equip their business environment with safety equipment such as a portable fire extinguishers of various types and sizes, a working smoke alarm system, and water hydrants in the facility.
He also encouraged them to build fire Station in their premises with the assurance to post Men from the Service to man the stations at no cost.

The Officer in charge, Federal Operations, Controller of Fire, Dadu Johnson also charged the business owners to be safety alert at all times and thereafter on behalf of the Controller General declared the sensitization program opened to a clapping ovation of all present.

The team from the Inspection, Investigation and Enforcement (IIE) unit led by ACF Ashafa A. A., the 2ic Officer In -Charge, IIE during the sensitization exercise drove the people through the process of fire Prevention and Control and further demonstrated the use of fire blanket and fire extinguishers to the audience, and afterwards ensure a Do-It-Yourself on the use of fire extinguisher and fire blankets, in order to boost confidence in them.

The climax of the public enlightenment and sensitization campaign was the water drill simulation exercise by a crew of 4 men from the Operations Department of the Service.
The traders with much amusement watched the plaza adorned with jet of beautiful water from the firefighting truck.
